英文摘要 | Reading is regarded as a major skill at all levels of education for assisting students to comprehend academic task s. Readers' Theater (RT) is a literature-based approach, aiming to develop students' reading ability by reading text aloud and repeated reading. This study aimed to examine the employment of RT in improving low achievers' oral fluency, reading achievement, and motivation to read. Six low-achieving fourth graders in an elementary school participated in a 16-week RT program as an English remedial program. Four instruments were used, including reading materials, an oral fluency test, a reading test, and interviews. The results of this study indicated that using RT in an English remedial program could help the low achievers to improve their oral fluency, especially accuracy and speed, reading achievement, and motivation to English reading. Finally, some pedagogical implications were offered. |
