英文摘要 | A great amount of CO_2 and alkaline wastes have been generated from iron and steel making industry for many years. The industrial wastes such as basic oxygen furnace slag (BOFS) and cold-rolling mill wastewater (CRMW) should be treated and stabilized before discharging or reutilization. It was noted that the alkaline wastes generated from steelmaking industry could be utilized for CO_2 capture via carbonation process. Our study showed that CO_2 capture by accelerated carbonation of BOFS in a rotating packed bed (PRB) was found to be superior to that in the traditional reactors due to the relatively short reaction time at ambient temperature and pressure. The objectives of this study were to (1) evaluate the performance of using the CRMW as the liquid phase for increasing the overall carbonation efficiency and reducing the fresh resource consumption; (2) characterize the reaction product using thermo-chemical analyses, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD); and (3) assess the potential for utilization of carbonated BOFS as Green Cement. |
