英文摘要 | A 3-kW fully submerged tidal current power generator has been developed and tested in the large cavitation tunnel at National Taiwan Ocean University and on the Keelung Sill. The turbine blades were designed by using propeller lifting line theory based on 3.0 m/s and 2.3 m/s inflow velocity for 0.8 m and 1.22 m diameter, respectively. Due to the low rotation rate of the turbine blade, a planet gear box was used to increase the rotation speed and to reduce the size of generator. For this, the water tightness mechanism was also designed to protect the gear and the generator. Moreover, tail fins were designed and mounted on the tidal current unit, so that the turbine blades can always face towards the incoming tidal current. An electronic rectifier was used to convert the output power to the 220 V voltage and a 60 Hz frequency. After ten months of testing in the laboratory tunnel, it was found that the tidal unit produced an output of 1,500 W at 3.0 m/s flow velocity for the 0.8 m diameter turbine. For this system, the efficiency of the permanent magnet generator is 0.85 and power converter is 0.91, and the mechanical loss is about 35%, which includes the loss by the shaft, seals and the gear box. Since the 0.8 m turbine is designed to generate 3,000 W of power, the overall loss of the system is 50%. For the case of 1.22 m diameter, the results of sea trail were almost the same as at those found in the tunnel tests, after the tunnel blockage effects were included. |
