英文摘要 | As e-business strategies have increasingly attracted the attention of business mangers, information systems strategic planning (ISSP) is considered an effective means of implementing a successful e-business strategy. Specifically, as planning tasks become increasingly complex, firms require the capabilities of lateral organizational collaboration, coordination, and decision making when conducting information systems strategic planning. A number of organizational mechanisms, such as strategic information systems (IS)/information technology (IT) planning teams, and IT steering committees have been extensively used in IS/IT planning and management practice in the organizations. However, very little empirical evidence exists regarding the effect of such mechanisms on the success of ISSP. This paper hypothesizes relationships between lateral organizational mechanisms and the success of ISSP. Those relationships are then tested empirically with a field survey of 239 IT executives in Taiwan’s top 1000 companies. Results of this study indicate that presence of strategic IS/IT planning teams is significantly related to the overall success of ISSP. Practical and theoretical implications for the results are discussed. |
