| 英文摘要 | Writing is a difficult skill for students in the EFL context to master. EFL writers, not least those in East Asia, experience difficulty both in developing their creativity and in acquiring writing skills appropriate to a range of functional and social contexts. EFL Writing pedagogies include the product, the process and the genre approaches. Most recently, attempts have been made to rationalize a hybrid process genre methodology. A proposal for the use of this hybrid approach in the Korean context has been put forward by Kim and Kim (2005). However, there is currently a paucity of published classroom based research on this topic. After a background introduction, this article outlines the development of the process genre approach. The context and outcomes of a small scale classroom based descriptive study which involved examination of, firstly, student reaction to this approach; and secondly, improvement in their writing ability, are then presented and discussed. The paper closes with brief conclusions and observations which, while they may not be broadly generalisable, are likely to be of interest to those involved in tertiary level EFL writing instruction both in Taiwan and the broader East Asian context. |
