英文摘要 | In recent years, almost all healthcare institutions worldwide planned and adopted enthusiastically electronic medical record systems of their own. Our Department of Health of the Executive Yuan and all medical organizations, big and small, under its jurisdiction were no exception. The objectives of such jealous endeavor of taking advantage of modern electronic information techno logy were not only to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the age-old medical record system, but also to save manpower, resources and space. In order to understand the points of view and responses of medical record management professionals toward the change-over to the new system during the course, Taiwan's Medical Information Management Association conducted a questionnaire survey on the issue in 2007. The subjects of the survey were 998 members of the Association who attend the annual meeting of that year, and the recovery rate was 62.1%. The result showed that over half (58.2% to be exact) of those responded were terrified (including ones very much so), and 24.2% of those responded were even worried about the possibility of losing their jobs due to the change-over. When looking into the distribution of persons with such fear more closely, we found profound differences between members working at healthcare institutions of different levels, namely medical centers, district hospitals, and local hospitals, as the percentages of health workers at these three levels in this particular field harboring such thought were 39.5%, 28.0%, and 24.8%, respectively, and the differences turned out to be statistically significant. As they faced the inevitable and approaching e-medical record system, over half of the medical record management professionals admitted that they did try to prepare themselves to cope with it. How? The most popular option they took was ”learning relevant knowledge and techniques of computer statistic analysis” (chosen by about 64.8% of the responders), and the second one was ”studying related computer know-how and skills” (about 57.6%), which was followed by ”learning to develop a second job specialty” (about 55.0%) and ”taking a new curriculum related to medical care” (about 52.4%) |
