英文摘要 | Purpose: This study is to carry out an initial evaluation of the corneal biomechanical properties of residents in Hsinchu city, Taiwan. Methods: Two hundred volunteers (100 males and 100 females) were enrolled in this study at the age range from 20 to 69. In the same tine, the refractive errors ranges from +1.0D to -7.0D. The corneal hysteresis (CH) and corneal resistance factor (CRF) were measured for at least three times by ocular response analyzer (ORA), and the central corneal thickness (CCT) was determined by ultrasound pachymeter attached to the ORA. We analyzed based on the factors such as age, gender and different diopters. The on way ANOVA is complied from the analysis. Results: The mean CH of the residents is 11.6±2.6mmHg, CRF is 12.2±1.9 and the CCT is 559.3±22.7μm. It is discovered that gender has an insignificant impact on the corneal biomechanical properties. The CH and CRF among myopic patients those whose diopter is between -5.0D and -7.0D are also relatively low (p<0.005) compared with the group between -1.0D and +1.0D. Discussion: The corneal biomechanical properties in our study show that the properties seem to be unrelated with gender. The mean CH, CRF, and CCT at the higher age (60-69) are relatively low. The higher myopic patients (such as -5.0D to -7.0D) have the lower CH and CRF. Corneal biomechanical properties including CH and CRF may support the diagnosis and treatment of some ocular diseases. It is also an issue for ophthalmologists that requires more attention in the future. |
