英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of A2 and A3 shades and ceramic thickness on the masking ability of one machinable feldspathic ceramic. A substrate made of auto-curing acrylic resin mixed with amalgam powders was fabricated to imitate a dark discolored abutment tooth. Five ceramic specimens for each group, 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm in thickness, were cut from the A2C and A3C shade of machinable feldspathic ceramic blocks (group SA2 were 0.5 mm in thickness and A2C shade, group MA2 were 1.0 mm in thickness and A2C shade, group TA2 were 1.5 mm in thickness and A2C shade, group SA3 were 0.5 mm in thickness and A3C shade, group MA3 were 1.0 mm in thickness and A3C shade, group TA3 were 1.5 mm in thickness and A3C shade). The color parameters of background substrate and each group of ceramic specimens covering over the substrate were measured by colorimeter. The mean values of △L(superscript *), △a(superscript *), △b(superscript *) and color differences (△E) were calculated and then multi-compared statistically by SPSS 11.5 software (P<0.01). The mean △E values of groups SA3, MA3 and TA3 were 15.18, 17.69, and 19.67, respectively, and the mean △E values of group SA2, MA2 and TA2 were 15.65, 16.88, and 18.00. The multi-comparison tests indicated statistically significant differences in the substrates covered with 1.0 and 1.5 mm-thickness specimens (P<0.01). A3C shade presented bigger masking effects than A2C shade when thickness was 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm (P<0.01). Regardless of the shade factor, 1.5 mm-thickness ceramic groups showed greater color differences than 1.0 mm groups (P<0.01), and color differences of the 0.5 mm groups were the lowest. The machinable feldspathic ceramic tested in the current study masked the underlying substrate color well. Thickness showed greater effects than shades on masking ability. |
