英文摘要 | The guarantee is a fundamental factor in facilitating companies' access to credit. To cover the higher risk presented by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), lenders usually make the granting of credit subject to collateral guarantees. In terms of size, structure and capability, Eurofidi is Europe's biggest guarantee provider: the total bank loans guaranteed by the company amount to €6.5 billion, with over4.2 billion guarantees issued. Truly impressive figures that demonstrate the solidity and efficiency of a company which has over 31,000 members have placed their trust. Thanks to guarantees granted by Eurofidi, SMEs can rely on concrete support for their growth. Eurofidi intervention also reduces the cost of money: the rates applied by lenders to the guarantees backed by Eurofidi are aligned with the best conditions on the market. Early in 2008, the regulations of "Basel 2"came into force. The new provisions will make considerable changes to the way in which credit is granted, and will have a profound impact on relations between banks and businesses. A guarantee from Eurofidi will become increasingly important, because its rating could be transmitted to member companies, allowing them to obtain more financing under better conditions. This is why Eurofidi plans to obtain a high rating. To achieve its objective, Eurofidi has focused on reinforcing capitalization by increasing share capital, and has diversified its risks across Italy. Important steps have been taken in both directions: the capital increase, subscribed in early 2007 by leading corporate investors and a large number of enterprises, brought in €32 million of new share capital. In 2006, two new branches and three operational offices were opened. This route will lead Eurofidi to becoming firstly a financial intermediary under Article 107 of the Italian Banking Act and then a Guarantee Bank. |
