| 英文摘要 | This is an attempt to derive an analytical framework, using Boolean algebra or the theory of sets, to explain regional or ethnic separatism in the context of modern China. It identifies (1) lack of effective central government control, (2) organized separatist activities, and (3) the presence of foreign intervention as the major causes responsible for secessionist attempts, explains how these causes relate to one another, and develops a formula to describe how they combine to result in the presence or absence of secessionist or separatist claims. |
