中文摘要 | 為了要提供完善的服務,一個隨選視訊系統必須包括許多成員。而一個視訊伺服系統的效能提昇將扮演著重要的角色。在本論文中,我們提出一個創新的視訊伺服系統,其包括視訊伺服裝置控制器、內崁式控制器、流徑裝置、視訊緩衝器、SCSI控制器和磁碟陣列。接著我們設計一個視訊伺服系統中能有效地配送視訊流的流徑裝置,而此流徑裝置主要是以ATM交換器來架構。除此之外,我們也有描述此系統的通訊協定以及視訊緩衝器仲裁的設計。 最後,對於所設計出來的視訊伺服系統,在本論文中採用單點對單點模式來對流徑裝置做效能評估。我們藉由最小可接受的服務品質之需求,很容易地找到一適當的共用記憶體大小,使其在流徑裝置中,能達到所要求的服務品質。 |
英文摘要 | A video-on-demand (VoD) system comprises many elements that are necessary for the provision of a complete service. The performance improvement of a video server will play a crucial role in a VoD system. In this paper, we propose an innovative hardware architecture of a video server that is composed of the video server controller, the embedded controller, the stream router, the video cache, the SCSI controller, and RAIDs. Next, we will design the stream router, which is mainly constructed of the shared-memory ATM switch, for effective delivery of video streams. In addition, we have also designed the arbitration of the video cache arbiter and presented the communication protocol of the proposed video server system. Finally, in this paper, we evaluate the stream router performance in our video server using a unicast performance model. Furthermore, we can easily find a suitable buffer size in the stream router under the required minimum acceptable QoS. |
