英文摘要 | In its early days, the MRT automatic fare collection system followed the design and planning concepts of foreign consultants, who applied the magnetic ticketing system and triple-turnstile gates. At that time, flap gates were not used universally in overseas rapid transit systems for technical reasons. Triple-turnstile gates had the advantages of low cost and easy maintenance. Moreover, it was not easy for passengers to jump over them. However, triple-turnstile gates were inconvenient for passengers to pass through, especially for children traveling free of charge, luggage-carrying passengers, and pregnant women. With respect to flap gates, they can be set in either normal open or normal close mode. Under the normal open mode, the gate will be kept open to help facilitate and speed up the entry and exit of ticket holders. When the mode is set to normal close, the gate stays closed, and only the presentation of a valid ticket will change the gate to open automatically and allow passengers to enter or exit through the gate. Compared with triple-turnstile gates, flap gates are more convenient and user-friendly. The evolution of MRT automatic fare collection system shows DORTS efforts in promoting the qualities of Taipei MRT and in providing more convenient and user-friendly services. |
