英文摘要 | Since 1897, when the first seismometer was installed, a large number of seismographic stations have been constructed and many studies concerning earth'quake seismology have been done in the Taiwan region. A brief history of the evolution of seismic networks is described first. Then, the publications concerning earthquake seismology in the region during the 1897-1996 period are reviewed. The important issues in consideration are (1) the crustal and upper-mantle structures (including one-dimensional velocity models, three-dimensional velocity models, Q values, and anisotropy); (2) earthquake quantification; (3) earthquake catalogues; (4) studies of pre-1945 earthquake sequences; (5) studies of post-1945 earthquake sequences; (6) seismicity (including the spatial distributions of earthquakes, temporal variations in earthquakes, remotely triggered seismicity, frequency distributions of earthquakes, b-values, relations between mainshocks and aftershocks, seismic energy, fractal characterization of earthquakes, and seismic code) ; (7) seismotectonics (including stress patterns and regional seismotectonic models); (8) earthquake prediction research; (9) induced seismicity; and (10) earthquakes and geothermal activities. Comments and judgments on the main results obtained by certain authors for some issues are made. In addition, several future studies are also suggested. |
