英文摘要 | The main purposes of this study are exploring the present situation of the satisfaction on grandparenting practice in terms of the role as a grandmother, analyzing the difference of grandparenting satisfaction between distinct grandmothers and their respective grandchildren, the intergenerational variables, and the variety of the environment; in order to clarify the associated factors that affect grandparenting practice. The subjects of this study selected 360 grandmothers in Taiwan, who had taken care of their uneducated grandchildren from one and half to four years age at least fro a period of two months. The method utilized in this study was based on a structured questionnaire, including the scales of 「personal information」, 「grandchildren behavior」, 「intergenerational support」, and 「the role satisfaction of grandparenting」. The major results were founds as follows: 1. Over 90% of the subjects agreed that 「love to have grandchildren around」, 「grandchildren are as lovely as their own children」, 「expect to see their grandchildren everyday」, and 「they love grandchildren dearly」. However, there were also 80% of the subjects agreed that 「it is a burden for them to take care of their grandchildren」. 2. Significant differences of the satisfaction on grandparenting practice were found among 「health condition of grandmothers」, 「the marital status of the parents」, and 「the forms of care-giving」. 3. The more behavior problems the grandchildren had, the less satisfaction of the grandmothers received. The more support the parents gave and the healthier the grandmothers got, the more satisfied they felt. |
