英文摘要 | The catalytic behaviors for two reactions taking place in series in a catalyst pellet have been investigated. The behaviors-effectiveness factor, selectivity and yield are calculated by three models: I. exact model accounting for both intraparticle temperature and concentration gradients; II. thermal model neglecting intraparticle concentration gradient; III. isothermal model neglecting intraparticle temperature gradient. Analyses over a wide range of variables indicate that as the first reaction is endothermic the thermal model (II) can be used to calculate the behaviors of a catalyst particle if the absolute value of γ₁β₁ is larger than 3.0. Under this condition the deviation from the exact model (I) is not more than 20% and is less than 5% when this absolute value is larger than 10. However, the isothermal model (III) is found not to be satisfactory over the whole range of variables except the absolute value of γ₁β₁ is less than 0.5. For the first reaction is exothermic, the thermal model (II) is not recommended being used to study the behaviors of a catalyst pellet. |
