中文摘要 | 在同位素地球化學系統的研究中,Re及Os因同為親鐵性及親硫性的元素,故其在 地球化學的應用上與親岩石性的同位素系統(如Rb-Sr及Sm-Nd等)相較,顯得特別突出。筆 者仿效美國加州理工學院所發展出利用同位素稀釋的負離子源質譜術,分析Re及Os的方法, 並重建此技術於中央研究院,地球利學研究所。 整個技術的關鍵在於如何控制Re及Os的實驗空白值,及如何確定富集同位素□Re及□ Os(spike)的濃度。在本文中我們可將Re及Os的實驗空白值分別控制在<2pg及<8pg以內。 且利用分析同一鐵隕石(Cape York)所得的結果證明我們已在國內成功的重建分析Re及Os 元素的技術。 |
英文摘要 | Re and Os are two siderophile elements which commonly exist in Earth's rocks with very low concentration (below ppm) levels. In comparison to extensively exploited isotopic pairs such as Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd which are lithophile elements, the Re-Os radiometric system is distinctive and proven powerful in various categories of geochemistry and cosmochemistry. In this paper, we report the setting up of new techniques including sample dissolution and chemical separation for the analysis of Re and Os concentrations as well as □Re/□Os and □Os/□Os ratios using isotope dilution mass spectrometry coupled with negative thermal ionization (NTI-MS) in the Institute of Earth Sciences, Academia Sinica (IES-AS). These techniques are essentially adopted from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). The analytical blank levels we have achieved in the IES-AS laboratory, i.e., <2 pg for Os and <8 pg for Re, are comparable to world-class leading research groups. Our measured □Re/□Os and □Os/□Os ratios for the Cape York iron meteorite are in good agreement with the Caltech values. These achievements reveal the capability of applying the IES-AS's Re-Os analytical facilities to geochemical and cosmochemical studies in an internationally competitive manner. |
