中文摘要 | 本文之主要目的在於探討應用科學類科作為通識教育教材之意涵與教法,以及分析學生學習成效及影響成效之相關因素。本文以一般學生都較少接觸的學科「海洋技術概論」為例,以期減低因背景因素所造成學習效果上的差異,進而瞭解課程設計與學習成效之間的關係。本文以某一學期修課的學生成績為樣本,分析各種學系背景之學生對於該課程的學習成效。分析結果顯示,除了「海科院」高年級學生在先前相關課程中對於海洋學的認知(本課程第三單元)有較大的優勢外,並無具體證據顯示對整體海洋技術的認知占有優勢,而其他各院(包括文、理、工、管)學生平均成績都在總平均成績之標準差以內,顯示理工背景並非是本課程學習成效之主要因素。從整體成績的表現可以看出,大部份學生都集中在平均分數左右,顯示本課程之設計「為一般學生對於海洋技術的認知,以及瞭解海洋與人類文明的關係」的目標,已具體實踐。 |
英文摘要 | The purpose of this article is to study the significance of applied science as a part of general education, and to analyze the factors affection the effectiveness of learning. To minimize the possible bias incurred by the students' background from various disciplines, this report is based upon a course relatively unfamiliar to all students entitled "Introduction to Ocean Technology". Course evaluations revealed that, with proper design, the course was acceptable to students of all disciplines, including the humanities, fine arts, science, and engineering. Results based upon course participation and the final grade indicated there was no strong evidence that the course favored students with science or marine backgrounds, thus illustrating that the course objective of serving students from all disciplines had been met. |
