| 英文摘要 | Purpose: This study aims to understand the perceptions of canyoning participants toward climate change and to explore their responses to climate change in detail. Most studies of outdoor recreationists' perceptions toward climate change largely focus on ski/snowboard activities; this study can provide another point of view to see outdoor recreationists' perceptions toward climate change. Methods: 500 questionnaires were distributed, and 416 valid responses were received. Moreover, SEM analysis was employed to examine the relationships among the recreationists' perceptions. Results: Behavioral coping was the most frequently reported response to climate change in canyoning participants, while climate change concern was the most influential predictor for behavioral coping. Conclusions: Canyoning participants with higher levels of climate change perception tended to employ temporal substitution and resource substitution as their coping strategies. Originality/value: 1. Studies of climate change's influences on outdoor recreation largely focus on skiing and snowboarding. This study provides another point of view, using canyoning, which is a summer outdoor activity, to examine recreationists' perceptions of climate change. 2. This study employed coping behavior as the key theme to discuss strategic and temporal substitution of canyoning recreationists' perceptions of climate change. |
