英文摘要 | Creativity is an aspect of human potentials by which man has created culture and became a superior among creatures. A number of studies has been done by researchers in creativity recently, of which some are dealing with concepts of creativity, some are observing creative personality and characteristics, still others are investigating creativity correlates. All these researchers have a conception in common, namely, creativity can be developed by appropriate education and creative abilities can be discriminated by efficient instruments. Thus the function of education is to provide opportunity for creative development in which creative atmosphere and teaching methods are essential. Based upon this assumption, the researcher hypothesized that creative abilities can be developed by proposed teaching material and teaching methods if traditional teaching processes were changed. In an experiment, subjects were drawn from two elementary school and a junior high school, which consisted 113 second grade and 142 fifth grade children and 100 seventh grade boys and girls. Experimental group and control group were assigned in each grade level according to intelligence and academic achievement. Subject matter for experiment were Chinese in grade two and grade five and biology in grade seven. The experimental groups were taught by a certain amount of material in addition to ordinate textbooks and methods assumed to stimulate creativity. After eight weeks, the experimental groups showed a increase in creativity, but differences in comparison with the control groups did not arrive to significant level. Analysis revealed that traditional teaching had deeply rooted upon students' learning habits which could not be changed in a short period of time, but the creative teaching did show better results than the traditional teaching. Suggestions were made for further research and for improving teaching methads. |
