英文摘要 | During the past two decades, breakthroughs in molecular biology and genetics have set the stage for a revolution in medicine. The cDNA microarray systems, also known as gene chips, are outstanding among these new technologies. This powerful method provides the ability to analyze the expression profile of thousands of genes in a wide range of biological systems, producing the entire integrated picture of differential genes. This information can be useful for diagnostic and prognostic evaluations and may soon be important for directing specific therapies. It is therefore necessary to comprehend the cDNA microarrays for all basic and clinical researchers. This review will summarize our current understanding of cDNA microarrays, emphasize cDNA imcroarray applications for renal diseases, and focus attention on the limitations of cDNA microarrays in nephrology practice. Finally, we present some encouraged preliminary results of cDNA microarrays applications in our laboratory. |
