英文摘要 | In recent year, economic development tends to take a global approach. With the capital accumulation of flexible specialization, the new trend of international division of production and labor has gradually taken its form and given birth to global production networks with multiple tight levels of production and labor division. Since the economic relationship between Taiwan and China is embedded in such network, this relationship, thus, is only a part of entire global economic integrating process, which is based on global production network and global commodity chain. Therefore, to understand the economy relationship between Cross-Strait, one must first apply this relationship into the framework and logic of global economy. The topic of this research is to depict and reveal the true economy relationship between Taiwan and China through the framework of global economy inter-dependency. Since the economy relationship between Cross-Strait is mainly represented by the direct investment made in China and the business brought by Taiwanese corporations, we would like to first characterize the roles Taiwan plays in this network. Taiwan, in the entire global production network, mainly represents a semi-peripheral OEM type of economic entity whose economy is oriented by the volume of its export. With this restriction under such objectively environment, the Taiwanese corporations have urgent needs to extend their production networks into China. Such urgent needs can be reflected on the significant investments made in China and the trading business associated with these investments. In the end, we would point out that the fundamental trading entitites in the economic relationship between Taiwan and China are not the countries themselves. The true trading entities are the corporations’ production networks. These networks are the main characters of the investments and trading that take place in the economic and trading relationship between Cross-Strait. |
