英文摘要 | This study aimed to reduce the athletes’ shoulder pain owing to sport injury or over use by implementing a series of somatic movement education program. Somatic is the study of lived experience and the embodiment process. The appreciation of inner and outer awareness inhuman movement becomes the main essence of Somatic study. Emphasizing the experience from within, somatic practitioners have developed many different ways for body-mind integration. For athletes, the attainment of peak performance is through nothing but the human body, which plays a very important role in the world of sport. However, many athletes are suffered from shoulder pain because of body mis-use or over use, and sport injury for a long period of time. Therefore, the somatic practice can provide athletes with an opportunity to open body awareness, to find their ways for releasing their body fatigue and pain, and to understand the profound value of body knowledge and self-healing. Based on the concept of Somatic, this study was to offer somatic education program for 15 athletes with shoulder pain from National Taitung University. In this program, somatic movement exploration with breathing exercise was adapted for solving their shoulder problem. The Electromyogram (EMG) was recorded during pre-and post-period of this program and the Shoulder Pain Scale were collected every week. The data were analyzed to check the effect of releasing the shoulder pain after this program. The results showed most of the athletes felt much better in their injured shoulder after this somatic program. Even though they were still under the pressure of hard training, the shoulder pain was gradually released (p<.05). The EMG of abduction, forward flexion, backward extension, external rotation, and internal rotation of the inured shoulder, was also obviously reduced (p<.05). |
