英文摘要 | There is on-going convergence of Switched Circuit Networks (SCN) and IP-based data networks in the communication community. In order to offer seamless services, IP-based networks must establish an environment to meet some important performance requirements of the SCN, such as reliability, availability, and timing. SIGTRAN is a working group of the IETF, which focuses on addressing the transport of packet-based PSTN signaling over IP Networks, taking into account the functional and performance requirements of the PSTN signaling. For interworking with PSTN, IP networks will need to transport signaling such as Q.931 or SS7 ISUP messages between IP nodes, for example, between a Signaling Gateway and a Media Gateway Controller or between two Signaling Gateways. SIGTRAN develops a protocol suite made up of a new transport layer-the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP)-and a set of User Adaption (UA) layers that mimics the servies of the lower layers of SS7 and ISDN. This paper introduces the SIGRRAN architecture, protocol suite and their operation. It starts by outining the network architecture, then depicts the SCTP. Finally, the UA layers themselves are discussed. |
