英文摘要 | The effects of chromium (Cr) supplementation (chromium picolinate) on growth performance and immunity response of weanling pigs were investigated by using 24 crossbred pigs (4-week-old average body weight 6.94 kg). Pigs were randomly assigned to 4 treatments;(1)0,(2)200,(3)400, and (4)800 ppb of Cr supplementation each treatment was housed in 6 pens and allowed feed and water ad libitum during experimental period (7 weeks, final average body weight 31.31 kg). At the 2nd and 5th week, the pigs were immunized with Pseudorabics virus (PR), then blood was collected weekly for analyses of blood constituents, plasma antibody to PR, immunoglobulins, and leucocyte counts. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) mitogen-induced blastogensis were then performed on the pigs in split groups on weeks 2,4, and 6. Cr supplementation significantly (P<.01) increased plasma Cr, but there was no effect on growth performance, however, 400 ppb Cr supplementation tended to increase daily gain and feed efficiency during the 0-4 week period after weaning. The plasma glucose, insulin, cortisol, or insulin/glucose ratio were not influenced by dietary Cr levels. Cr increased anti-PR titers during weeks 5 and 7 (P<.05) and PBMC blastogensis by PHA-induced at weeks 2(P<.10), respectively, but decreased PWM-induced blastogensis at week 6. Immunoglobulin G at week 6 (P<.15) and overall means of immunoglobulin M(<.07) throughout weeks 2, 4 and 6 tended to higher for supplemental Cr. The results suggested that supplemental 400 ppb Cr from chromium picolinate might enhance immunity of pigs above 4 weeks after weaning. |
