英文摘要 | Background and Methods: From September 1998 to September 2000, military recruits who were hospitalized with acute pneumonia were prospectively studied for a comparison of the efficacy and safety of intravenous and/or oral ofloxacin with those of combined cefazolin and clarithromycin regimen. Results: The mean ages, initial white cell count, CRP, ESR, involved lobes number, fever lasted after treatment and length of hospital stay are not statistically different in both groups (p>0.05). The rate of identified pathogens is quite low in both group: 27.8% in ofloxacin and 35.4% in cefazolin plus clarithromycin groups, respectively. The most common pathogen is Mycoplasma pneumoniae in both groups. The clinical success rates were similar in both groups, 88.9% in ofloxacin group and 90.9% in those receiving cefazolin plus clarithromycin (p>0.05). Conclusions: Our data indicate that M. pneumoniae may cause a high proportion of pneumonias among military recruits and should be considered in empiric treatment. Ofloxacin is as effective as a combined cefazolin with clarithromycin regimen for the empiric treatment of acute pneumonia in military recruits. |
