英文摘要 | It is known that the exhaust from vehicles is a major contributor to air pollutants. Many countries have taken more stringent fuel specifications in order to improve air quality. However, the benefit for that is not as good as expected. The reason is they don't know which one is the msot important factor in their countries. Now, the situation has been changed. The amendments to the Clean Air Act passed by U.S. congress in 1990 focussed attention on the emissions from mobile sources. In legislating said amendments, the automotive and petroleum industries agreed in 1989 to conduct a massive research program on air quality (so-called "Auto-Oil Program") to measure emissions from vehicles and relate the results to changes in fuel composition. This is a scientific way to determining which one is the key factor. And such program has been proven to be successful. In current stage, Taiwan's EPA would like to modify the U.S. Federal RFG specification to establish Taiwan's gasoline specification. In this paper, the proposal will be introduced. |
