英文摘要 | The Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) has been widely commercialized and applied to the backbone network in Europe and North America for increasing the transmission capacity of the optical fibers. This paper discusses the progress, application and worldwide de3ployment of WDM technology. The main keys for WDM technology to realize optical transport networking, such as optical network element (Optical Add – Drop Multiplexer and Optical Cross – connect), optical networking standards and management functions for operation and maintenance, are also deeply analyzed in this paper. |
