英文摘要 | A feedback-controlled functional electrical stimulation (FES) system was developed to present to hemiplegic patients a real-time stimulating to their muscles for avoiding the drop-foot and the quadriceps weakness during gait training. The FES was real-time feedback controlled by position sensors (p.s.) and triggered by footswitches (f). The FES received the signals from sensors, then adjust and output an optimum set of stimulation parameters automatically. One hemiplegic patient was recruited into clinical evaluation and treated with the newly developed FES system. It is revealed that the mean velocity, cadence, stride length, and functional ambulation category (FAC) from 0.12 ± 0.07 m/sec, 40.3 ± 18.3 steps/min, 0.35 ± 0.10m, level 1 to 0.42 ± 0.23m/sec, 68.2 ± 19.0 steps/min, 0.70 ± 0.22m, level 4 were improved significantly of the experimental subject. A paired t-test revealed that differences in the electromyography (EMG) of the tibialis anterior and the quadriceps muscles between patient's affected-side and unaffected-side were not significant (p>0.05) after the third-weeks of training. It is concluded that the sensors feedback-controlled FES system is worthful to set into action for gait training in hemiplegic patients. |
