英文摘要 | Pulping industry is regarded as a commodity producing industry. The main factors influencing pulp quality are differences in tree species, and harvesting sites, in other words, the differences in fiber morphologies. Six indices are often used to evaluate pulp quality, i.e.,(1) fiber length, (2) fiber width,(3)cell wall thickness,(4) coarseness, (5) fiber population, and (6) hemicellulose content. Bleached softwood kraft pulps can be grouped into norther softwoods (NBSK), southern softwoods (SBSK), and radiata pine. The northern softwoods can be further subdivided according to geography and climate into 7 sources: (1) coastal BC,(2) interior BC,(3)eastern Rockies,(4) western Ontario and Prairies, (5)Quebec, (6)Maritime, and (7)northern Europe. The southern softwoods are divided into southeast US and southwest US. Bleached hardwood kraft pulps can be grouped into northern hardwood (NBHK), southern mixed hardwood (SBHK), and eucalptus (BEK). Single species hardwood pulps consist of birch, aspen and ecualyptus are found on the market. How to select suitable pulps to achieve the sesired paper quality with minimal cost is not only a technology but rather an art too. |
