英文摘要 | During several years of teaching TOEFL reading in the Chinese Military Academy (CMA), I have found that some of the Cadets have the difficulty of fluent reading. Laying aside the consideration of the cadets' insufficiency of their basic English background vocabulary and syntactic information which all interfere their reading speed, I would like to point out that the cadets proceed their reading in a rigid word-by-word fashion, and lack skimming and word-guessing skills are both responsible to their failure in TOEFL reading. Thus, this paper is aimed (1)to explore the factors of the cadets' improper reading habits and the reasons which cause their slow reading, and (2)to suggest some teaching skills and strategies to improve the cadets reading speed and help them to read more efficiently. |
