中文摘要 | 少女懷孕是現代工商社會錯綜複雜的社會問題,美國中小學開設性教育課程,傳授青少年的性知識,以避免少女懷孕,減少日益嚴重的社會問題,但並沒能達成預期的效果。本文旨在探討此問題的關鍵所在,從性教育的內容看來,它不但不能減少少女懷孕,反而使事態更為嚴重;由於它的誤導或不適正當的教學與錯誤的觀念,使得青少年沒有標準可以遵循並作正確的抉擇。目前性教育的內容大多側重於善後的處理,不著重在全方位的兩性教育。諺云:預防勝於治療。近十年美國學者推出性尊重(Sex Respect)的觀念,教導青少年道德的規範和節慾的覯念,而守貞是防止少女懷孕最有效的方法。目前美國很多州要求小中學的性教育課程要加強節慾與貞潔的情操,結果的確大大減少了少女懷孕的數目,因此教導貞潔觀念的兩性教育,比僅僅教導如何避孕或墮胎等的性教育來的有效。 |
英文摘要 | Teenage pregnancy is a complex social problem in modern industrialized society. Sex education curriculum in American public schools is supposed to be a way to control the problem, but in fact it does not solve the problem. This article, firstly explores the issue of teenage pregnancy and examines the content of sex education. Then, it tries to shed some light on why sex education cannot reduce teenage pregnancy and moreover makes thing worse. As a matter of fact, there are many misleading and wrong ideas or bad teaching, which result the young people having no standard to obey and judge what is the right. Preventing is better than curing. The curriculum of sex education should place emphasis both on moral and abstinence. The method of preventing teenage pregnancy is to teach the teenagers the value of chastity. Collen Kelly formed Sex Respect program to offer the curriculum for schools. She advocates teenage sexual abstinence and does not teach contraception or abortion. Many States in America are now requiring schools to teach abstinence as part of their sex education program. Research shows Sex Respect has held cut in half the number of teen pregnancy. Therefore we should teach the young person the value of chastity. Teenage chastity is the best way to control teenage pregnancy and unmarried birth. |
