英文摘要 | New antibiotics including Tienam, Pipril, Pefloxacin, Augmentin, Fortum and Mandol were added into bone cement and made into hemispherical cement discs. The discs were divided into two groups, one heated up to 105 degrees Celsius in autoclave (to reproduce the possible temperature of cement bulk cur-ing in total joint replacement scenario) and another 55 degress Celsius (the tem-perature of EO gas sterilization chamber). The discs were tested with same antibiotic paper discs against some Gram negative bacteria from deep muscu-loskeletal infection with diffusion agar method for susceptibility. The bacterial inhibition zone were measured and recorded. The results showed Pipril and Pefloxacin having good high heat stability and initial elution. Tienam, Fortum andMandol were not high heat stable, but elute well after 55-degree degree processing. They are probably good for using as cement beads, but must be use in caution when added in bulk into bone cement. Augmentin is totally unsatisfactory in this study and should be advised against its application in any circumstances. |
