英文摘要 | Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) with the capability of atomic resolution can be used to image the molecules on the surfaces. For the liquid crystal (LC) molecules, the substantial substrate- adsorbate interaction results in the formation of highly ordered molecular phases at the surfaces of graphite (HOPG) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS �� ). STM has been demonstrated to successfully resolve the individual LC molecules, and can even resolve the different functional groups within the molecules as well as their arrangement on the surface. The geometry and orderness of LC molecules self-assembled on surface observed by STM are also correlated with bulk phase transition. The purpose of this article is to introduce the application of STM in structure analysis of rod-like LC molecules on the surface. Several successful examples are also reviewed. |
