英文摘要 | Research has been conducted to investigate the degradation of Unsaturated Polyester (UP)resins and gaiss fiber reinforced Sheet Molding Compornd (SMC) in water. Corrosion resistanceof these materials depends on the ingredients used in the polyester backbone , the unbounduncured molecules in the crosslinked resins, and the filler content, etc. At low temperature, thewater absorption in the crosslinked polyester resin based on propylene glycol/fumarate/isophthalate follows the Pick's Law model. However, at higher temperature, hydrolysis, swelling, leaching of small species and osmosis/swelling induced crack may occur in the material, hence thePick's Law model can not be applied. As to a hydrogenated bisphenol-A/fumarate/isophthalatepolyester and a bisphenol-A based vinyl ester, both contain steric hindrance molecules whichmay prevent their matrices from degrading in water even at higher temperature, Pick's Law issuitable to describe the water absorption in these resins. This paper also presents the effects of degradation and cracking on the morphology ofresin. It is found that the interal crach formed in the curel resin is caused by the osmotic pressure. The surface crack is induced by the hydsolysis and swelling strain due to the water uptaking of the cured reain. |
