英文摘要 | Hal-1843 represents a single nucleotide mutation point on the nucleotide sequence of porcine stress gene. When the nucleotide 1843 is C, the porcine stress gene is a normal gene. The nucleotide 1843 is T for mutant gene and there are three genotypes: CC, CT and TT represented for Hal-1843 genotypes. In this study, 55 gilts were imported from USA and they arrived at Taiwan Livestock Research Institute at approximately six months of age. There were 31, 23 and 1 gilts with CC, CT and TT of Hal-1843 genotype, respectively. Effects of Hal-1843 genotype on maternal traits were determined when gilts were two years old. The TT gilt did not have any mating records when she was two years old. The percentages of gilts that died suddenly were 9.7% (3/31) and 21.7% (5/23) in the CC and CT genotype groups, respectively. At two years of age, 52.2% (12/23) of CT gilts had their first litter and so did 64.5% (20/31) of CC gilts. Comparison on the age at first parity between CT and CC gilts showed 498±20 days for CT gilts which was 60 days later than that of CC gilts (438±18 days) (P<0.05). Both maternal traits, litter size in total and number of born alive, at first parity, were not different between Hal-1843 genotypes. CC sows had 7.06 piglets in total and 5.90 live piglets at birth as compared to CT sows which had 6.75 piglets in total and 5.75 live piglets at birth. 10.0% (2/20) and 16.7% (2/12) of primiparous sows died suddenly which were with CC and CT genotype, respectively. Percentages of primiparous sows having the second parity at two years old were 55.6% (10/18) and 40.0% (4/10) for CC and CT sows, respectively. But percentages of sows-at second parity with their own weaned piglets decreased to 80% (8/10) and 50% (2/4) in the CC and CT genotype groups, respectively. In summary, the mutant Hal-1843 gene affected the age at first parity and the percentage of re-parturition of Berkshire sows. |
