中文摘要 | 本文針對掌上型多媒體手機提出一種具有電源管理功能之管線架構設計。由於必須兼顧多媒體手機接受資料的間歇性與資訊處理之流量考慮,在行動計算環境下,我們需要一種可以電源管理之管線架構以達到節省能源消耗的目的。行動手機管線架構可以省電的基本原因在於機器處於「閒置」機率普遍存在,本文嘗試從一個電源管理型的管線架構狀態轉移圖求出手機「閒置狀態」機率。接著我們估算出具有電源管理之管線架構可提升電源消耗效率。為了簡化說明,我們採用兩級管線架構為例,求出手機閒置狀態機率及設計其電源控制電路。除此以外,我們也提出多級管線架構之電源管理規則性控制電路設計。 |
英文摘要 | This paper proposes a power managed pipeline architecture for a palmtop multimedia terminal, which receives information from computer networks sporadically. To process intermittently arriving information under a certain throughput, we need a power managed pipeline architecture, which can control some pipeline stages on and off to save power consumption in a mobile computing environment. The power saving is based on the existence of the idle state of mobile terminals. From the state probability transition equations of the state transition diagram for a power managed pipeline, we will obtain the state probability of the idle state and then obtain the total power consumption which is lower than the traditional pipeline architecture. For simplicity reasons, we use a two-stage pipeline as an example in which we show the state probability of the idle state and the power managed circuit. Finally, the power managed circuits for multiple pipeline stages are also found as a regular structure design. |
