英文摘要 | A total of 2,280 primiparous does was used in the study which included 228 Japanese White, 1,374 New Zealand White, 104 Californian, 766 hybrids, and 1,182 Rex for the investigation of the percentage of does with the ability to produce five consecutive litters. In this five consecutive litters, respectively. The duration between parity one and parity six were 331�b10, 281�b2, 291�b9, 284�b3, and 354�b4 days, respectively. Also, significant differences occurred in the duration among breeds (P<0.05). Mean litter sizes of the first six parities in Japanese White, New Zealand White, Californian, hybrid and Rex does were 5.92�b.11(N=58)、6.86�b0.3(N=5,270), 6.01�b1.2(N=403), 6.82�b0.4(N=2,820), and 5.63�b.04(N=3,534), respectively, with significant difference among breeds (P<0.05). The largest litter sizes produced by does in the first to the sixth parity were 13, 17, 14, 17 and 14 pups in the Japanese White, New Zealand White, Californian, hybrid, and Rex breeds, respectively. Accordingly, the survival rate of pups at weaning were 56.2, 70.4, 62.5, 64.1 and 61.0%, respectively, for the five breeds which differed significantly (P<0.05) when breed comparison was made. Litter sizes and survival rates of newborn pups increased as parities did during the first three parities, and then decreased gradually thereafter. Farrowing intervals were not significantly different among parities considered. However, the farrowing interval of the last and current parities was negatively correlated with the litter size produced by the current parity (r=-0.09, P<0.0001). |
