英文摘要 | Over a period of investigation, 790 hectares of arable soils in Taiwan were found to be contaminated by heavy metals considerably (i.e. in fifth class). The crops grew on those soils were potentially harmful to human health. The purpose of this study is to test the efficiency of turning over the soil to remedy the pollution situation. The experiment site was located at slate alluvial soil in Changhua, because the Cd content of the rice grain harvested from this soil was higher than the national standard (i.e. 0.5 mg/kg). 0.1 M HCl extactable Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Zn contents of the top soils were higher than of subsoils, whereas Pb contents in normal range. The results obtained by investigated the heavy metal contents in each 5 cm segment down to 150 cm depth, showing that, except Pb, all metal contents were relatively higher near the soil surface. The depth of soil to be turned over depended on the metal contents. One month after turning over the soils by 60 cm depth. The 0.1 M HCl extractable Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni and Zn contents of the top soils were decreased. Cd contents of top soils (i.e. 0-15 cm)of site 1 and 2 were decreased from 0.51 ± 0.39 to 0.35 ±0.35 mg/kg and from 0.61 ± 0.36 to 0.16 ± 0.12 mg/kg, respectively. Cd content of subsoil (i.e. 15-30 cm) of site 1 was changed from 0.47 ± 0.35 to 0.46 ± 0.27 mg/kg. Site 2 was changed from 0.49 ± 0.29 to 0.19 ± 0.16 mg/kg. This result revesled the effectiveness of turning over soil in the emediation of polluted paddy soils. The cost and the benefit of turning over one hectare soil were 140,000 and 200,000 NT dollars, respectively. In addition, after turning over, the soil can be cultured sustainablly if irrigated with non-contaminated water. |
