中文摘要 | Survenola {Digitaria x umfolozi Hall), a cultivar of digitgrass, released from the University of Florida, USA, was considered as a high-producing and rustresistance grass. This study aimed to understand the effects of cutting stage, wilting, and chop length on silage quality of pangolagrass A254 and Survenola. The ensiling response of A254 and Survenola was similar. Water content of the forage was the major factor affecting the silage quality. For those forages harvested before 55 days, their silage quality could be improved obviously by wilting. The cutting stage was another factor affecting the silage quality. Generally, silage is best made with 70 day-cut forage and it was good enough when made with 55 day-cut forage, but it was very poor when made with 40 day-cut forage. Chop length had no effect on silage quality in this study. However, in A254, the silage quality was the best when ensiled with wilted 55 day-cut forage and those ensiled with 70 day-cut forage came the second. Because the moisture content of 40 day-cut forage was above 80%, silage ensiled with these forages would produce more butyrate and less lactate and thence, the silage quality was poor down. In Survenola, silage made with 70 day-cut forage had the best quality, followed by silage ensiled with wilted 55 day-forage. Generally speaking, the ensiling performance of these two lines A254 and Survenola to pH value, acetate, butyrate and lactate content and Flieg's score were almost the same. Owing to the loss of dry matter during the ensiling process, higher NDF and ADF content was seen in silage than in forage itself. The ADF content increased more obviously in bad silage than in good one. The in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of Survenola silage was higher than that of Azs@ silage. From the results although pangolagrass Azs@ and Survenola had similar silage quality, the latter had better digestibility. |
