英文摘要 | In the coming century, the slogan "Human kind ought to follow the way of nature" should be emphasized through practice. In this context, China's natural materia medica has a great role to play in the world general health service. This paper deals with the need to modernize Chinese materia medica in order to meet this goal in the following ways: 1.The traditional Chinese materia medica should be further improved to comply with GLP, GCP, GMP and GAP requirements as internationally acceptable medicines, by means of modern science and technology. 2.As a pre-requirement, the quality of those crude drugs should be thoroughly investigated and the resources for their sustainable utilization should be quantitatively guaranteed. 3.The application of biotechnology in the research of Chinese materia medica should be actively introduced, such as identification of authentic drug manufacturing scale of cell culture, biotransformation and genetically engineered synthesis of natural products. 4.The modern concept of human health should not exclude those functions of Chinese materia medica with respect of its multiple utilization, such as health food, natural food additives, natural cosmetics, green perfumes as well as botanical pesticides as so on. 5.In order to make use of the precious clues and the treasured experience offered by the Chinese materia medica, the application of the methodology "Knowledge Discovery in Database, KDD" in particular, should be emphasized. 6.A framework for the modernization of Chinese materia medica has been proposed. To this end, several strong group-enterprises should be set up for the above mentioned modern Chinese materia medica, which could then implemented the work outlined in this article. |
