英文摘要 | Traffic control is an important and active research issue for ATM ABR (available bit rate) service. This paper proposes a Fuzzy Explicit Rate Control (FERC) scheme for ABR traffic. By monitoring two parameters, the switch transfer rate change ratio and the queue length, the source rate will be calculated at the switch in the FERC shceme. The transmission rate is calculated by a fuzzy congestion control model and placed in the Explicit Rate (ER) field of a feedback resource management (RM) cell. According to this, the source will adjust its transfer rate to the correct operating value. We use discrete event simulation approach to construct models for traffic control mechanisms. The model development in C++-based DEVS (Discrete Event system Specification) simulation environment is described. We compare the performance of FERC scheme with ERICA and EPRCA for different buffer size allocations. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme provides an effective ER based traffic control strategy. |
