英文摘要 | At Peikang Sugar Refinery, Taiwan, it was identified that a secondary floe, precipitated after phosphatation clarification, tended to reduce the cycle time of the Deep Bed Filters. The formation of such precipitate correlated closely to the instability of pH control during clarification. To extend the cycle time of the Deep Bed Filter, modifications were made to improve pH control at the clarification station. Several measures were taken to improve the pH control. Firstly, the electrode for measuring pH was relocated. Originally it was sited at the reaction tank but this subjected the electrode to disturbances, caused by fouling from debris inherent in the liquor. To overcome this problem the electrode was relocated to the pipe between the melter liquor pump and the process reaction tank. Secondly, pH control was enhanced by increasing the efficiency of mixing the process chemicals into the liquor. To achieve this, the dosing points of phosphoric acid and lime saccharate were transferred from the discharge to the suction of the melt liquor pump. The final action in improving pH control was to renew the dosing system of lime saccharate. During the commissioning of the Deep Bed Filter the removal of suspended solids was measured at some 94 96 using a particle counter instrument. Measurements of the suspended solids removal across a conventional filter press were also taken and comparisons made to the Deep Bed Filter. A segment of the Peikang Refinery's customer base requires refined sugar with low levels of sulfates. Analysis of the sulfate content in raw sugar and product sugar was made and the effect of varying pH during clarification to reduce sulfates was investigated. |
