英文摘要 | Historically, language has been taught separately from culture--a separation readily apparent at any coll campus where there are different departments for foreign languages, ESL, and intercultural communication However, as the student population in American schools becomes demographic diversity and compounding academic underachievement of many language-minority students, demonstration that neither culture nor language can be taught separately from the other. Because such relative low achievement is attributable to a comp configuration of causes, but one main cause is being the lack of equity of opportunity ot learn that has be considered closely related to inadequate understanding of the language-minority students' culture. Consequen voices calling for multicultural education have been burgeoning. This article base upon sociocultural aspect to explore when the multicultural education was inspired, why ESL teachers need multicultural education, and what questions concerning multicultural education must ESL teachers consider. |
