英文摘要 | Objective: To compare changes in urea nitrogen levels in the blood of basketball players who had eceived acupuncture stimulation and those who have not during rest periods and post-exercise recovery periods. Subjects and Method: 15 male basketball players were given one of two types of treatment as follows: 1. The received acupuncture treatment at the zusanli acupoint. 2. They received no acupuncture treatment. Each group then took part in vigorous exercise in the form of running on tread mills set at a 20 degree inclination and at 8 mph until exhaustion. Observations were made in the blood pressure of the athletes in three stages: during the initial pre-exercise rest periods, during the post-acupuncture stimulation and pre-exercise period, and after exercise during the recovery stage at 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 minutes intervals. All data was analyzed and compared afterwards using the two-way ANOVA analysis method. Results: There were no significant differences in the average urea nitrogen levels in the blood during the rest period of the group receiving acupuncture treatment at the zusanli acupoint and the group receiving no acupuncture treatment, post-acupuncture/pre-exercise rest period, and the post-exercise recovery period. When we observed the rate of speed by which the urea nitrogen levels in the blood decreased, however, we discovered that the urea nitrogen levels in the blood of the control group that received acupuncture treatment decreased more quickly than that of the group that received no treatment. |
