英文摘要 | Group psychotherapy has been called a "hall of mirrors" in which each member is confronted with various aspects of his social, psychological, and physical image in direct interactions with other members of the group. This study seeks to determine how an educator may use mirror phenomenon as a group supervision strategy for psychiatric nurses. The first two authors, as facilitators of a group, used participant observation to conduct 10 group sessions. Four psychiatric nurses served as members of the supervision group. The group members were married females from different hospitals in the northern area of Taiwan, were aged 31 to 38, had diplomas in nursing and had worked in psychiatric wards for at least 5 years. The supervision group process, after inpatient group therapy sessions facilitated by the supervisees, was tape recorded and transcribed verbatim. At the same time, a field diary was recorded. Themes were generated from both data sets using constant comparative analysis. The results revealed a supervisor's past experience and the attitude of a coworker could be the mirror of the supervisor in the supervision group. The strategies for inducing a mirror reaction in the supervisees were reintroducing stored issues, circular questioning, and role playing. These three strategies helped supervisees identify the problems they encountered, promote self-development of group members and assist conductors in resolving their own conflicts in clinical supervision groups. In addition, the meaning of benign mirroring in group therapy is explored. |
