英文摘要 | This sample of this research is 262 students from three unversities' general education courses, including the National Central University and two other near by universities. The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between college students' Internet usage and their interpersonal relationship. The limitation of this research is the nonrandom sampling. The tool of this research is by the Survey of Internet Usage of Taiwan's College Students and it also includes a subscale of social adjustment scale from Lai's Personality Test. The time of the survey is in January 1997. The sample has more students from National Central University (48%), engineering college (50%), Freshmen (35%), and male students (66%). The conclusions of this study is: The ideal type of the internet usage of college students are: nine out of ten students use it, average one hour per day, no fixed time schedule, using public facilities from dormitory or computer labs, viewing BBS of WWW. The internet has changed their leisure patterns, it has made them exercise less, watch TV less, read newspapers and literary books less. They benefit from Internet by gaining more information, but the shortcoming is less time to study. This study has divided the students into three groups: BBS users, BBS indulgers, and BBS present-indulgers. The BBS users usually are freshmen male students, but they do not have any significant difference in social adjustment then the non-BBS users. But they had problems in interpersonal problems, at the same time, they had high satisfaction with friends when compared with the non-BBS users. The BBS indulgers had longer history with the Internet, they like to use "talk" on the BBS, they are usually responsible for managing a bulletin board on the Internet, they use Internet for average two hours per day, but they do not have any significant differences in social adjustment than the non-BBS indulgers. However, they are not satisfied with their interpersonal relationship. The BBS present-indulgers usually are: Freshmen male students, longer computer usage history, 3-4 hours per day in using Internet. However, they do not have any significant differences in social adjustment or interpersonal relationship than the non-BBS present indulgers. The future study should analyze the intraneous or extraneous personal types, the friendship patterns on Internet, and the difficulties of interpersonal relationship for college students. |
