英文摘要 | Since the beginning of manned flight, accidents and incidents of altitude hypoxia have continuously been a common occurrence in military aircraft. It is ready to ignore the insidious threat to flying safety due to its painful symptoms. To ensure aircrews being fully aware of the causes and how to recognize the condition, hypobaric chamber physiological traning will present a satisfactory indoctrination. On hundred and twelve undergraduates of flight surgeon and pilot participated in this study. They were in turn exposed to three simulated hypoxic environment including 35,000, 30,000, and 25,000 feet. We found that not only individual symptoms but occurring frequency were not consistent among different altitude exposures. Nevertheless, dizziness, hot flash, and numbeness were reported to be ubiquitous. When compared to previous studies, a variety of symptoms have been seen even at the same altitude. These differences might be resulted from the cardiopulmonary fitness to some extent. In this study, we also determined the effects of hypoxia on human sychomotor performance using mental arithmetic. The result showed that both the speed and precision of operation decreased when we ascended to higher altitude or leveled off for longer duration. To enhance efficiency and safety, we used pulase oximeter for monitoring the changes of blood oxygen saturation throughout the chamber flight. Besides, we selected the avlue of 60% as the endpoint of terminating hypoxia challenge. Based upon our experience, we conclude that there is practically no danger involved in the mass hypoxia demonstration. |
