英文摘要 | Two-opint bending is a useful method for investigating the mechanical properties of optical fiber (ribbon) and has several attractive features and advantages when compared to the traditional tensile test. For example: (1) Bending technique do not have any gripping problems. (2) The system is simple and easily computerized, the components are readily available and inexpensive. (3) In bending technique fiber can easily be immersed in any environment (such as a liquid nitrogen; water solution; or vacuum) but traditional tensile test just can test in ambient environment. In this paper a two-point bending technique is established, and is used to investigate the mechanical property reliability of optical fiber (ribbon) in harsh environment. In harsh environment, fiber surface roughness resulting in fiber mechanical strength decreased and fiber mechanical strength is decided on the resisting ability of coating to environment. |
