(Sillago maculata)為例,估算結果,其最初成熟體長分別是165,173及185mm。 由第三種成熟中區分法所估得之值比較好。其理由有二:第一是魚成熟的分類標準比較 合理;第二是實際上的魚數以估算值來分開未成熟魚與已成熟魚接近各佔一半合乎定義之要 求。 最初成熟體長大小的估算值有兩大用途:第一是可在漁業管理上作為可漁獲魚的最小體 長;第二是在漁業生物上可作為指示該魚種因污染、過漁等造成的族群變化。 |
英文摘要 | "Size at first maturity" is commonly accepted as the "size at which 50% of fish are mature". Four approaches have been used to estimate the size at first maturity. This study applied three of the four approaches using the trumpeter whiting (Sillago maculate) as an example. They are denoted as (Ⅰ) Traditional, (Ⅱ) 80%, and (Ⅲ) Split maturing approaches. The three approaches estimate the size at first maturity of S. maculate at 165, 173, and 185mm FL, respectively. The size at first maturity estimated by the split maturing approach is considered the best estimate, based on two considerations: the rationality of the criteria and the resultant proportions close to a 50-50% division between the immature and mature fish. The size at first maturity is important as it provides a minimum size limit for protection of the species in fisheries. It also indicates population changes caused by pollution, overfishing or others. |
