英文摘要 | Taiwn in the late eighties has gone through a transition from early industrialization to postindustrialism that exibits in the new socio-economic trends of the industrial upgrading and high-technology developments, the growth of the service sector, the burgeoning social movements (especially the labor movement), as well as more critical challenges to state power. This study examines the postindustrial trends in Taiwan that involve the redefinition of the proper relationships between the state and society. It is argued that only from the analyses on the following four aspects can we understand wholly the state-society relations in the postindustrial transition of Taiwan. They are the authoritarian transformation of the state, the formation of the native business alliances, the rising social movements, and the destruction of the previous ideologies. Moreover, Taiwan's postindustrial transition also means that the civil society intends to destroy the long-term syate management and control and rebuild the harmonious, instead of conflicting, new relationships between the state and society; but the emergence of a stable relation between them will require more their mutual endeavor and consensus. |
